My path in life has been direct
1.
Growing up as a first-generation Latina in the U.S., I balanced two cultures while striving to achieve academic success.
2.
I began my higher education journey at a community college, embracing its affordability and opportunities for growth.
3.
Inspired by the lack of research on Latino mental health, I dedicated my studies to creating a voice for underrepresented communities.
4.
Completing a double bachelor's degree at UC Santa Barbara, I focused on social psychology and impactful research.
5.
I founded Capita, a digital media company, to empower first-generation students through coaching, workshops, and storytelling.
Defining Moments
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I'm proud to be the first in my family to graduate college but it was difficult. I experienced imposter syndrome and culture shock. What helped me combat that were my mentors as well as the opportunities I got to go home and reconnect with my family.
