My Day to Day

My typical work day includes sitting in virtual meetings with brands to explore partnership opportunities and researching topics and potential interviewees for the Cafecito con Estrellita podcast. I also lead 1-1 and group calls with students from our membership to review college admissions and scholarship essays, resumes, and career exploration plans—all while having my favorite cup of coffee by my side!

    Growing up as a first-generation Latina in the U.S., I balanced two cultures while striving to achieve academic success.

    I began my higher education journey at a community college, embracing its affordability and opportunities for growth.

    Inspired by the lack of research on Latino mental health, I dedicated my studies to creating a voice for underrepresented communities.

    Completing a double bachelor's degree at UC Santa Barbara, I focused on social psychology and impactful research.

    I founded Capita, a digital media company, to empower first-generation students through coaching, workshops, and storytelling.

  • I'm proud to be the first in my family to graduate college but it was difficult. I experienced imposter syndrome and culture shock. What helped me combat that were my mentors as well as the opportunities I got to go home and reconnect with my family.
