Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Why do you want to work in nonprofits? You won't make any money. You should work for (insert big company here).
How I responded:
It's difficult to overcome noise, especially when it's coming from people close to you who you've always asked for advice or input. But it's important that you make decisions that are going to please you. You're the only person who can decide what's going to make you happy and fulfilled. Sometimes we get too caught up on how much money we want to make that we neglect whether the job invigorates us and allows us to use our skills and abilities.
