My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Wasn't the greatest student in High School, with low B average. I didn't take it seriously.
2.
Went to Rider College where I met a lot of smart and fun people. Met my husband there, too!
3.
Upon graduating, I felt lost ... What was I going to do with a Communications degree???
4.
I was accepted into the Citibank Mgt. Training program -- never dreamed I'd work for a bank!
5.
I enjoyed the marketing + communications side of the bank + focused my career there at several banks.
6.
I tried something new by taking a Coach role at Capital One, the best career decision I ever made.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
How can you work for a bank when you're terrible with math? You're not going to be able to do this, you know. You're not as smart as some of the people you work with. You could fail.
How I responded:
I was fortunate to have the full and loving support of my parents throughout my entire life's journey. They helped me build confidence in myself as I embarked on my career. I overcame my internal noise by taking one step at a time. I worked each day to give my full 100%, my best effort. When it came to making career moves, I made the best decisions I could, believing that each job was a stepping stone that would lead me to the path that was right for me ... and it did.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
A few years ago, my husband lost his job. One daughter was in college and the other was 16. It was a scary and trying time, filled with uncertainty and worry. We made some tough decisions, were there for each other and made it through together.
