Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Family:
The lack of encouragement. I was asked 'Can't you find another job?' Each time I had to make a decision that was in the best interest of my personal success, I had 'friends' walk away from me.
How I responded:
For me listening to motivational speakers like Les Brown and listening to the stories of others who overcame significant obstacles. Developing a relationship with God helped me to power through the noise of self doubt and the lack of confidence or support that came from others.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I spent much of my childhood not feeling loved. Therefore, I first had to learn to love myself. This helped me to develop the courage to accept the fact that I could do anything that I set my mind to.
