My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Graduated community college with an associates in liberal arts in 1997 from low income school.
2.
Didn't really know what I wanted to do, so for over 5 years just kinda mooched around not doing much.

4.
Met someone who inspired me to "turn my life-around"in 2006.

Moved out of my parents home in Stony Brook in 2006. Moved into group home system.
6.
Got a job in 2009 doing basic food pantry service to a VERY underprivileged low income community.
7.
Started at ClubHouse of Suffolk shortly thereafter which changed my perspective on life and things.
8.
Obtained my 2nd part time job at Blue Point Bayport Library in 2014.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
It's too limited. It's not going to lead to a "respectable" career or profession.
How I responded:
This is YOUR life. There is no dress rehearsal. Follow your bliss. Do what you want to do. Do what makes you happy. Identify your passions and interests and hobbies and values and goals and beliefs etc. and work towards them. Don't listen to the naysayers and Debbie downers because of other people's "learned helplessness" and own self-doubt. That's what I did, and it didn't work! I had to stop and get myself out of a rut, and with God's grace I did. Onward and upward! Carpe diem!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Depression, anxiety, lack of motivation. OCD: With therapy, meditation and proper medication, in addition to my own willpower, I got over my addiction to my repetitive behavior.
I was only diagnosed with my attention issue (ADD) very recently: I had trouble in school and wasn't reaching my best potential. I read more, watch educational videos, and got the right medication. I'll reread something to make sure I absorb things.
