I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
An environmental geology class at ACC that inspired me to pursue geology and engineering.
2.
An administrative detail that meant my job in hydrology wasn't going to work out how I had hoped, so I got certified to teach high school. I always admired my teachers and thought I would love it.
3.
I did not love teaching! I loved many parts of it but struggled with student behavior, so I went back to graduate school in engineering.
4.
I loved graduate school and even got a great job teaching a university class. But I couldn't figure out where I fit into the petroleum engineering industry, so I went back to teaching high school.

How I responded:
If you can't shake these thoughts, try to at least turn them around to motivate yourself to prove, to yourself, that you have something to contribute. Make something that you are proud of, like a personal website or a small web application, then build on that. Share your work with people you trust and ask for feedback.
