Life & Career Milestones

I've taken a lot of twists and turns

  • 1.

Chose a major in college that interested me, but I wasn't quite sure what I would do with it once I graduated.

  • 2.

Moved back in with my parents after college and worked in retail while I looked for other jobs.

  • 3.

Decided to join AmeriCorps NCCC to travel around the country, serve, and expose myself to new skills and people.

  • 4.

While in NCCC, I joined the Fire Management Team and was trained as both a wildland firefighter and an emergency medical responder.

  • 5.

After NCCC, I came to Philadelphia to start working at my current job, where I was performing direct service connecting low-income individuals to public benefits such as SNAP and Medicaid.

  • 6.

I got promoted to Team Leader, where I now manage a team who are helping our clients gain access to healthy food and health insurance everyday.

  • 7.

All of my experience thus far has inspired me to start taking classes to pursue a degree in Nursing! I think it's a great way to continue helping others while remaining invested in their health.

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Myself:

You're all over the place, why can't you just pick a career and stick to it?

  • How I responded:

While I felt a bit lost at first, my jobs post-college ended up giving me some really great experiences that have taught me more about myself and what I want out of a career.
