Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Why would you want to live there? It's dangerous/dirty/disease-ridden/boring there.
How I responded:
I remind myself and them that each contract is for two years...and if I don't like it, I can move on after that. Sometimes I think people feel like what they choose now will dictate the rest of their lives, but that's not the case. Look at my path...I went from hospitality (grew up in a family business) to insurance to mortgage to teaching to school administration to counseling. From New York to North Carolina to Mexico to China to Zambia. My path is my own, and I'm loving it!
