How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Music is a hobby, not a career. How can you make money doing that? There are no jobs in music education, there are always funding cuts. How will you travel and explore the world with this job? You can't leave the US, that's crazy!
How I responded:
I always made sure to follow my heart and keep my goals clear. When I stated a desire or goal to the universe, in writing, or out loud, the path to reach that goal would suddenly become clear and dissent would start to disappear.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I never had a lot of money growing up- so even going to college was dependent on making sure I could get scholarships (working hard in high school) and working a few jobs while I went to school. But it was worth it. And it was doable!
