Life & Career Milestones
I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
I personally struggled in high school. I didn't see the end goal, my parents were separated and struggled to support the family, etc.
2.
I spent a year in college before deciding to join the army. I still didn't know what I wanted to do, and felt finding a purpose to help the transition to adulthood was necessary.
3.
After rejoining the college path, I started to find fun in the coursework I was doing and stayed on the path in finance. I followed the stock markets, I competed in stock games, read articles, etc.
4.
By some sort of luck, I grabbed my first job after college in the construction industry, but still felt a little out of the loop career wise.
5.
I looked around again, and found a development program at Travelers and felt it was the right thing for me. I made the jump and haven't looked back! Quickly, I realized insurance wasn't boring!

How I responded:
Do not take everything at face value! Nothing is as it seems, and you can always make something fun with a spoonful of sugar! Looking at your account's insurance policy, and figuring out how to find solutions to the problems they are experiencing, can provide a great sense of accomplishment!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I wasn't the first to go to college in my extended family, but I was the first to stay in college & actually graduate. The accomplishment and pride you feel when your parents are crying at graduation makes everything worth it.
