How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Friends:
To study computer science rather than CIS because it was a more rigorous program. But to me, CS lacked the business acumen I gained by doing CIS instead, which does directly relate to my job today.
How I responded:
I knew I wanted to be in the technology sector but not as only a heads down developer. I wanted to polish my business acumen, and interpersonal skills, and my major was definitely the right choice for that. I believe I wouldn't be in a leadership position today had I only focused on technical education.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
My family came from Cuba a few years ago and we ran into many issues ranging from financial difficulties to cultural barriers. The key is to keep your goals in mind all the way and not lose focus, the reward is well worth the effort.
