Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Teachers:
Some of the noise I heard was from my professors. They told me I was not going to succeed in their specific course or program as a means of intimidation but I made it a point to prove them wrong.
How I responded:
I dealt with discouragement by continuing to work and pursue what I was passionate about no matter what I had heard from my professors. Even when I wasn't accepted to grad school, I contacted the University to say I would love to sit down with them and share what I could bring to the program. They agreed, and I was later accepted.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I overcame financial issues by working multiple part-time jobs to put myself through college.
