Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Family:
College was only for people with money. I really didn't believe that I could attend college, especially a four-year college.
How I responded:
I reached out for help, and I took a leap of faith. I didn't let other people's perceived limits become my own.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I didn't have a very straight forward path into or through college. A friend's mother encouraged me to walk into my local Cal State and apply. It changed my life. There were still many mistakes that I made on the way, but I never gave up.
