Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Family:

You shouldn't be a nurse, you should be a doctor instead. You have to make sure this is something you want to do in the long run because you can quickly get burnout.

  • How I responded:

Self-reflection and care are essential. Don't down your journey or path because someone else is ahead. Follow your own intuition while being open-minded and trusting the process.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • Although death is not that common, it does occur. It's important to be mentally aware of the possibilities of death. It can be hard, especially for new nurses, because it's easy to be emotionally attached to the NICU babies.
